I like to give myself projects for a coming year, so as to corral my monkey mind into focusing long enough on a topic so as the year end sees a couple of achievements rather than a cohort of disparate tidbits. One of my 202o projects is the painting of Blood Rage from CMON.
There are two reasons why I picked Blood Rage; the first one is that this game sits on my top ten all time favorite boardgames; the second is that I could justify this daunting endeavor by contemplating the use of the miniatures in Ragnarok from Tim Korklewski, which is a skirmish game I have been wanting to try it hit my doorstep last year.
I approach the painting of the game in a way similar to painting a small army, in that I paint the troops first and the special units second. In its current iteration, Blood Rage has 7 clans and I already tackled Wolf and Bear clans earlier in the year. I know have set my sights on the Raven and the Wild Board clans, which I am trying to paint at the same time so as to save time.

My painting method is pretty much always the same for regular units:
1 – Block all colors
2 – Apply washes
3 – Apply one or two highlights
4 – Base
5 – Varnish
